Upcoming: 4-16 Town Council Executive Session
4-16 Plan Commission
4-19 Water Board
April 12, 2012 Town Council Meeting Highlights
- We’ve begun the process of bonding $1.9 million for the 2012 Road project. The road list has been developed over the last 6 months with input from professional engineers and our Director of Public works. While our resources our being stretched to the maximum some council members want to add more work to the scope including additional money for Central Park.
- We had a public hearing for a development block grant to be used to make some of our town facilities more handicapped accessible.
- We approved the work of the BZA in recommending that Lake Central Schools be permitted to build a new school building at Protsmen.
- A contract was approved for Dave Hein to become our next Chief of Police. Dave has considerable experience in the PD the last three years as assistant chief. I am offended by the hurried manner in which the contract was put together and rammed through. My council colleagues have deprived the taxpaying citizens of a thoughtful and deliberative process.
March 22 Council Study Session Highlights
- We discussed the 2012 Road Project, the project is comprehensive and will require cooperation with the utility boards as well as bonding. The Scope of the project was defined early on.
- We are considering regulations for businesses in town which buy gold and other scrap metal. The goal of coarse being to discourage illegal trafficking in stolen property.
- Officers from the Dyer Fire Association demonstrated the equipment they’ve recently acquired, the equipment will be given to the town at an upcoming meeting. Appreciation to the Fire Association and the citizens that support them is appropriate.
- Representatives from Lake Central Schools presented the plans for the New Protsman School. It is a good plan and one Dyer should be proud of.
